He was predeceased by: his parents, Jackson Shaffer and Velma Shaffer; his sister Ruth; his son Jason; his grandson Bryce; and his great grandchild Titus.
He is survived by: his significant other Bonnie Herman; his sons, James Eric (Lana) of Laverne and Jeff of Enid; his grandchildren, Mariah (Frank), Madison, Jadon, Jace and Kensli; and his great grandchildren, Barret and Aspen.
