He was predeceased by: his parents, Harry Burwell and Sarah Jo Burwell (Pelky); his sister Betty Jo Shaffer; his brother-in-law Joe Shaffer; and his nephews, Jimmy Sustaire and Marty Sustaire.
He is survived by: his sisters, Yvonne Sustaire and Peggy Hughes of Lona Valley; and his nephews, Johnathon and Joshua Sustaire. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
