He was predeceased by: his parents, Edward Akin and Myrtle Akin; and his siblings, James, Clarence, Clifford and Margaret.
He is survived by: his wife Marilyne; his children, Kris Akin and Cheryl Nelson (Bo Nelson); his grandchildren, Stephanie, Dalton, Bradley, Sheridan and Kristen; his great grandchild Lauren; and his siblings, Henry and Barb. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
