She was predeceased by: her parents, Tommie Cleo Kirk and Martha Mozelle Kirk (Hardcastle); her sisters, June Winsett, Sue Caudle, Ann Hobbs, Kay Oates and Jodi Donahue; and her daughter-in-law Patricia Cates.
She is survived by: her husband James Cates; her sons, David Cates and Richard Cates (Nancy); her grandchildren, Nikki Miller (Cliff), Steve Dressler (Kelly), Scott Cates, Ryan Cates (Tanya), Clayton Cates (Jenalee) and Katelyn Chambers (John); and her great grandchildren, Tyler Dressler, Hunter Dressler, Whyatt Cates, Macy Miller, Jett Mitchell, Colton Cates, Ainsley Chambers, Atley Chambers, Kaylee Sullins and Kinsley Sullins. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, family members and friends.
