He was predeceased by: his parents, William Newman and Clara Blomberg Newman of Iowa; his siblings, Junior Newman, Quienton Newman (Toad) and Lois Sanders; his son Jimmy Newman; and his grandchildren, Brodee Newman and Grayson Vongvone.
He is survived by: his wife Carolyn Sue Newman; his siblings, Claudius Newman, Winnie Miller and Inez Fuller; and his children, Leland W. Newman (Connie), Nell Anne Dean Youngling and Jason Dean. He is also survived by cousins extended family and friends.
