He was predeceased by: his parents, William Elder and Esther Elder; his siblings, Paul, Ray, Bob, Billie, Dorothy and Pauline; and his son Danny Elder.
He is survived by: his wife Glenda Pollard of Idabel, OK; his children, David Elder of Acorn, AR, Rhonda (Gregory Smith) and Sharon (Duane Birdsong); his grandchildren, Kyle Batson, Jacque, Shawn Clampet and Kerri; and his daughters, Lindsay Deason (Shawn), Dawn (Cole Hattabaugh), Rachel (Travis Elder), Naomi (Jeremy Elder), Crystal and Heather Closs (Nathan). He is also survived by thirteen great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
