He was predeceased by: his parent Pearl Mae Marie Murphy; his grandparents, William Murphy and Alva Murphy (Rogers); and his siblings, William Burgner, Charlie Huett and Mary Alice Steele.

He is survived by: his wife Donna Rae Murphy; his child Carl Jennings Murphy Jr of Kansas City, KS; his grandchildren, Natasha Oglesby, Jacque Rodriguez (Jake) and Sonja; his husband Robert; and his great grandchildren, Tucker Oglesby, Alex Rodriguez, Catlin Rodriguez, Gunner Murphy and Avery Murphy.
