He is survived by: his daughter Samantha Hancock (Bill Hancock) of Colby, KS; his wife Phyllis Mendes of Hugoton, KS; his children, Mark Ackerman (Amirah) of Moultrie, GA and Shannon Nordyke (Paul Nordyke) of Hugoton; his grandchildren, Zackery Roybal, Alexis Hancock, Cory Wokaty, Kayce Ackerman, Kayle Ackerman, Karessa Nordyke and Austin Nordyke; and his siblings, Harold Mendes of Montana, Robert Mendes of California, Margaret Mendes of California, Elsie Lampman of North Carolina and Donna Lopez of Puerto Rico. He is also survived by three stepchildren.
