Gerald Gene Knight Obituary
Gerald G. Knight was born on September 18, 1929, in Dill City, OK, to Loyd O. and Minter P. Knight. He became a Christian at the age of 12 and was baptized a year or so later at the first Baptist Church in Sentinel. He graduated from Dill City Public Schools, winning 6 medals in the county track meets and a letter in library. Gerald attended A&M college in years 1947 and 1948 studying engineering and business. He was drafted during the Korean war in 1951 and served in the U.S. army two years until 1953, serving at Fort Hood, TX, Fort Knox, KY, Fort Bliss, TX, and Fort Sill, OK. After his discharge he worked for a year with his father in a general store in Dill City. In 1951, he married Juaneace Kerley and together they had 4 children, Gerry, Gary, Gina, and Gil Knight and celebrated 72 years of marriage on February 9, 2023. In 1954 they moved to Oklahoma City, where he attended Oklahoma City University and completed his Bachelor of Science Degree in 1955. He took an accounting job with U.S. Gypsum at Sweetwater Texas and after about 9 months loved back to Oklahoma City in which he attended Oklahoma City University Law School and graduated with a Juris Doctor degree in January 1960. He worked for Farmers insurance Group for 5 years as an insurance adjustor. In January 1966 he opened his own Law Office and practiced Law for more than 50 years. He was also involved in Real Estate as a Broker and was founder of his own oil and gas company. Getting through college he worked as a Janitor at Capitol Hill School, worked at Armour Meat Packing Plant, worked at Carey Lumber Co., worked at Klein Paint Store and he never collected unemployment even though some of his jobs paid less than 40� an hour in 1947. He was a member of the American Legion for more than 50 years in the towns where he lived. He last lived in the Mcloud area on acreage his last 40 years. He and his wife founded Christian Friends to Others, and associated with missionaries in Philippines, India, China, Mexico and assisted in legal work for many new churches and ministries in several states.
Gerald is survived by his wife of 72 years, 4 children: Gerry Knight, Gary Knight, Gina Knight, Gil Knight, 11 Grandchildren and many Great Grandchildren, A host of other family and friends.
Preceded in death by parents, brothers L.M. & Glen Knight, and sister Ida Mozell.
