With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Louis James Scherer (Harrah, Oklahoma), whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on November 7, 2024 at the age of 53. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his mother Maureen Browett; and his grandmother Margie Jean Snipes. He is survived by: his wife Taffee Cardenas-Scherer of Choctaw, Oklahoma; his father John W. Scherer II of Fernandina Beach, Florida; his sister Stephanie Scherer Ignatonis (David Ignatonis) of Swampscott, Massachusetts; his nieces, Ashley Hammell of Brooklyn and Lily Jordan Hammell of Tampa, Florida; his grandfather-in-law Elisa Minton; his parents-in-law, Carlos Cardenas and Luisabell Cardenas; his sister-in-law Frances LaSalvia (Michael LaSalvia); his uncles, James and John Browett of Florida; and his pet Lola.
Visitation was held on Friday, November 15th 2024 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Asa Smith Funeral Home (2039 Tim Holt Dr, Harrah, OK 73045). A funeral service was held on Saturday, November 16th 2024 at 3:30 PM at the Crossroads Connection Church (1628 S Harrah Rd, Harrah, OK 73045).
In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes donations to Disabled American Veterans (DAV), a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting disabled veterans and their families, or to Military REBOOT Recovery, a faith-based, peer-led trauma recovery service for veterans, in honor of Lou's legacy of service and dedication.
