He was predeceased by: his son Bruce Costner; and his parents, John Costner and Peggy Costner. He is survived by: his wife Myrtle; his son Brian Costner (Mary) of Beaver; his grandchildren, Talisha Coleman (Tyson) of Guymon, Tristan Pell (Larry) of Forgan, Tiffany Costner, Tyrel Taton of Thackerville and Tyler Costner of Denver; and his brother Gerald Costner (Erma) of Edmond. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
