He was predeceased by: his parent Nathalie Smith; his siblings, Patsy Nelle, Karen Smith Herwig and Woody Smith; and his nephew Steve Smith.
He is survived by: his wife Johanna Rappsilber; his son Travis Smith; and his siblings, Shay Caudle (Sharon), Jody, David, Gary and Adam. He is also survived by 14 nieces and nephews, many great-nieces and great-nephews, as well as great-great nieces and great-great nephews.
