He is survived by: his close friend Phoebe Thomas; his grandchildren, Augusta Clevenger (Bruce) and Max Clevenger Jr. (Kasey) of Joplin; his daughter Terrie Stephens of St. Joseph, Missouri; and his sister Glenda Kay Tate.
