He was predeceased by: his parents, Cleo Barton and Loretta Barton. He is survived by: his children, Mitchell Barton and Pamela "Ashley" Barton Walters (Ryan Walters); his wife Jeanie K. (Barton); his son Gerald; his pet Pepper; his stepson Dakota Adams; his granddaughter Adelyn; and his sisters, Teresa Drew, Tina Burris and Tammy Myers.

In lieu of flowers a fund has been set up at Portland Avenue Baptist Church to help with expenses.
