He was predeceased by: his parents, Joda Finus and Ethel Violene Capps (Russell); his son Marcell Capps; his grandsons, Drew Capps and James; his great grandchildren, Kaylynn Capps and Oliver Capps; and his siblings, J. C. Capps, Jerry Capps, Jimmy Capps, Frank Capps and Vilene Shaffer.
He is survived by: his wife Erma Marie Hunt; his children, Johnny Finus Capps (Renella) of Gore, OK, Mark Capps (Betty) of Lost City, OK, David Capps (Christie) of Muskogee, OK and Judy Treadwell (Gerald) of Gore, OK; his brothers, Donald Ray Capps (Sandra) of Allen, TX and Bill Capps (Wynema) of Welty, OK; and his sisters-in-law, Audrey Capps of New Boston, TX and Mary Capps of Harrah, OK.
