He was predeceased by: his mother Joan McGinty (Phelps); and his grandparents, Clarence "Mac" McGinty, Peggy McGinty, Calvin "Ikey" Phelps and Grace Phelps.

He is survived by: his father Bill McGinty; his wife Beverly Smith; his son Ty McGinty (Jenn Wolf-McGinty); and his sister Rhonda Hodges.

The family requests that those wishing to honor Criss's memory do so by making memorial contributions to the Glencoe High School Scholarship Fund.
