He was predeceased by: his parents, Harold LaPage Dobson and Carol Estey Dobson (Porter); and his brother Harold "Buddy" Dobson. He is survived by: his wife Nancy; his son David (Rurie); his grandchildren, Nicholas (Janel), Sean, Nolan and Nora; his daughter Deanna (Blake); his grandchildren, Eli (Rebekah), Chana, Noa (Vicente), Malachi, Karihana, Liam, Ava, Averi, Levi and Julian; and his brother John (Susan). He is also survived by nieces, nephews, and other extended family.
