He was predeceased by: his wife JoRetta Meigs (McKinney); and his siblings, Jewell Gibson Mahaney, Mary Jane Meigs, Frances Meigs Goodnight and Cooie Meigs, Jr..

He is survived by: his children, Retta Gayle Meigs (Kenneth Terrell) and Terence Meigs (Starla Meigs); and his grandchildren, Tiffany Meigs and Ashton Meigs. He is also survived by several nephews, nieces, and a host of special friends.
