He was predeceased by: his parents, James Luther and Lona Mae Abel (Skaggs); his wife Irma; his son William Lee Abel; and his brother-in-law Rod McDonald.
He is survived by: his daughters, Lona Fisher (Rick) of Lee's Summit, Barbara Danville of Coos Bay and Cathy McDonald of Rancho Cordova; and his grandchildren, Dawn, John, Jennifer and Melissa. He is also survived by eleven great-grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.
