She was predeceased by: her parents, Melvin Kenney and Peggy Groce Kenney; and her husband James "Jim" Schoeppel. She is survived by: her daughter Chacey Schoeppel Wilcox (Amie Schoeppel Wilcox) of Little Rock; and her siblings, Vickie Lynn Kenney of Weatherford and Dale Vineyard.

A memorial service was held on Friday, March 7th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the Mennonite Brethren Church (1600 E State Rd, Fairview, OK 73737).

In lieu of flowers, Kay's family requests that any donations be made to the Fairview School Education Foundation, P.O. Box 97, Fairview, OK 73737 in honor of Kay with the funeral home serving as custodian at P.O. Box 15, Fairview, OK 73737.
