He was predeceased by: his parents, Odie Lee and Opal Burns (Urquhart); his son Clarence Jr.; and his brother Grover. He is survived by: his wife Janeane Burns; his children, Matthew Burns of Bartlesville, Craig Burns (Mekia) of Eufaula and Jenny Fields (Dave) of Broken Arrow; his siblings, Wanda Montgomery, Beatrice McCoy, Lavonda Pence and Michael Burns; his grandchildren, Katrina, Olivia, Aidan Burns, Dustin, AJ Fields, Leslie Christian, James Burns (Elizabeth) and Clarence Wendell Burns III; and his great grandchild Gabriel Christian.
