He was predeceased by: his parents, John Henry and Vickla Shatswell (Yates); his son Dewayne Shatswell; and his brothers, Arlie Shatswell, John Shatswell and Henry Shatswell.

He is survived by: his children, Becky Bailey of Erick and Mitchell Shatswell of Delhi, Oklahoma; his siblings, Troy Shatswell of Moore, Ronnie Shatswell of Lawton, Oklahoma., Hazel Poppino, Wanda Lee Potter and Imogene Gibson; and his half-sisters, Betty Crawford and Vondel Dunnigan.
