He was predeceased by: his parents, Harry Smith and Thelma Smith (McDonald); and his grandson Hunter Smith. He is survived by: his wife Jo Lynn (Washington); his children, Jay Smith, Tim Smith and Jill Tietz (Smith); his son-in-law Johnathan; his granddaughters, Shelby Smith and Alyssa Smith; his great grandchild Xander Smith; his niece Lea Ann (Darold Malchaski); his sister Carla Watkins; and also Meredith. He is also survived by friends and relatives.
