She was predeceased by: her sister Janee Lee Umbarger; her father-in-law Gerald White; and her grandparents, Evelyn Leaming, Orville (Jack) and Eula Umbarger (Watt).

She is survived by: her parents, Karen Umbarger (Leaming) and Lynn Umbarger of Wichita, KS.; her husband Kelly White; her uncles, Raymond Mahoney, Leslie Leaming, Joe Leaming, Larry Hess, Charles Ferguson, Jim Snavely and Dick Harding; and her brother-in-law Mike White. She is also survived by aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

Memorials may be made in lieu of flowers to the YWCA Hope Starts Here for Survivors of Abuse through Henninger-Hinson.

“I have nothing but wonderful memories of Melissa. She always was joking around and making me laugh. She may have been my sister's (Donetta) best friend, but she was also another sister to me. I know they are reunited and are up there laughing. My dad was a big jokester and Melissa would always give it right back to him. She is up there hanging out with my mom, dad, and sister... just like the old days. I look fwd to our reunion! She is truly missed ❤️.”
