He was predeceased by: his mother Wanda Jean Trekell (Smith); and his siblings, Donald O'Neal and Marilyn McAtee. He is survived by: his father Homer W. Trekell; his wife Sharon Trekell; his children, Misty Shirley (Jay), Sarah Trekell and James Trekell (Christina); his grandchildren, Jabez, Keyana, Ryder Trekell and Reid Shirley; his siblings, Jimmie Trekell, Sharlyn King, Ron O'Neal and Carolyn Morrow; and his brother-in-law Larry Bowles. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Memorial donations may be made to MD Anderson Cancer Center with Ladusau-Evans serving as custodian of the funds.
