It is with great sadness that we announce the death of James R. Cox in Enid, Oklahoma, born in Carmen, Oklahoma, who passed away on December 19, 2024, at the age of 92, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Henry Cox II and Corinne Dickey Scruggs Cox; and his sister Jo Ann Cox Ebisch of Hooker. He is survived by: his wife Janet Stell Cox; his grandchildren, Jordan Smith (Mary) of Tulsa, Jeff Smith (Candis) of Ft Pierce, Jenna Smith of Tulsa, Tyler Whetstone (Lindsey) of Leawood, Peyton Whetstone Stueve (Alex) of Kansas City, Ben Whetstone of Kansas City, Jillian Cox Teague (Lacy) of Lewisville and Ashley Cox of Atlanta, Georgia.; and his great grandchildren, Abigail Smith, Caitlyn Smith, Chloe Smith, Taylor Smith, Leona Keating, Quinn Whetstone, Violet Whetstone, Ivy Whetstone, Tristan Teague and Faith Teague.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 22nd 2024 from 3:00 PM to 4:30 PM at the Anderson Burris Funeral Home (3002 N Van Buren St, Enid, OK 73703). A celebration of life will be held on Monday, December 23rd 2024 at 10:00 AM at the Central Christian Church (1111 W Broadway Ave, Enid, OK 73703).
