He was predeceased by: his parents, Abram Smith and Marie Smith; his wife Lavonne; his grandson Chase; his stepson Larry; his sister-in-law Patsy Stephens; his daughter-in-law Terri Smith; and his siblings, Clifford Smith, Rosalie and Betty.
He is survived by: his children, Elver Smith, Michael Smith (Sherri) and DeDe Jones (Louis); his stepchildren, Sterling Shepherd (Christi) and Tonya Gray (Stuart); and his sister Bonnie Smith. He is also survived by fourteen grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
