She was predeceased by: her parents, Jason C. Hales and Willie Jane Hales; her brother Glen Hales; and her stepson Robert Lane Moody. She is survived by: her sons, James Edwin Smith, Jr. (Rosemary) of Amarillo, TX and Gary Allen Smith of Wakita, OK; her stepchildren, Marla Patterson, Kerri Shiflett (Bill) and Andy Moody; her grandchildren, Lindsey Irlbeck, Tiffany York (Chris), Adam Patterson (Jennifer), Rob Patterson (Jade), Jentry Hamilton (Joshua), Nathan Moody (Ashley) and Courtney Simmons (Ryan); her great grandchildren, Trae, Landon, Jordan, Rip, Riley, Hadley, Colum, Steven and Miles; and her sisters-in-law, Kay Hales, Ava Ann Arinder (Smith) and Jane Ulibarri. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made in Doris's name to the Community Health Center (CHC) in Wakita, OK for a new Whirlpool Bath wtih Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home and Crematory serving as custodians of the funds.
