He was predeceased by: his stepfather Colonel Jack McLain. He is survived by: his wife Karen Smith Tiessen; his sons, Charles W. Tiessen and Chevy Tiessen; his stepchildren, Tommy (Traci Fields), Toni Schram and Craig (Sarah Fields); and his sister Kathleen (Ronnie Black). He is also survived by 8 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
