He was predeceased by: his parents, Lloyd Carl and Lala Carl (Long); his great grandchildren, Lily Helberg and Maddox Helberg; and his brother Bruce Wesley Carl.

He is survived by: his wife Kay Donna Shults; his children, Judy Kay Helberg (Mike) of Enid, Kathy Elaine Grantz (Melvin) of Covington and Bruce Martin Carl (Marcy) of Georgetown; his grandsons, Brian Helberg (Jenna), Jedidiah Helberg (Heather), Jeremy Donnell (Brittney) and Nicholas Donnell (Rebecca); his great grandchildren, Ryan Donnell, Harper Chancellor, Drake Donnell, Brady Helberg, Sawyer Donnell, Bentley Helberg, Landon Helberg, Brooks Helberg, Bode Donnell, Bowen Helberg and Asher Helberg; and his sister Norma Ruth Miller.
