He was predeceased by: his parents, Hugh Byrd and Grace Byrd; his son Robert Gene Byrd Jr. (Robbie); his grandson Jimmy Barfield II; and his sisters, Opal McReynolds, Tommie Jo Byrd, Mary Lemons and Elizabeth Dean.
He is survived by: his wife LaVera Byrd of Elgin, OK; his daughter Laurie Barfield (Jim) of Apache, OK; his grandchildren, Shawn Barfield (Melanie) of Norman, OK, Michael Barfield (Violet) of Lawton, OK and Heather Jones (Justin) of Elgin, OK; and his brothers, Claude Byrd (Rosetta), Emmett Byrd and James Dean. He is also survived by 14 great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and friends.
The family suggests that in lieu of flowers donations be made to American Cancer Society, St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, or the charity of your choice.
