He was predeceased by: his parents, Velton Chapman and Ruby Chapman (Bray); his wife Elsie Elliott; and his siblings, Shelby, Bobby and Hilda.

He is survived by: his children, Misty Rojas and William Chapman; his stepchildren, Regina Medsger, Dolores Matthews, Ronald Elliott and Christopher Potts; and his sister Johnice.
