He was predeceased by: his parents, Vernon Almas Brown and Norma Estelle Brown (Cheatham); his brothers, David Paul Brown (Pete) and Edwin Lee Brown; and his son Vernon Kent Brown.

He is survived by: his wife Linda Jo Brown (Brooks); his daughter Karen Jones; his grandsons, Stephen Jones and Christopher Jones; and his sister Barbara Sander. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, family members and friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family would like donations be made to St. Monica Catholic Church or the Catholic Archdiocese of Oklahoma City Seminarian Fund.
