It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Edwin Owen Newell (Edmond, Oklahoma), born in Oakland, California, who passed away on July 29, 2024, at the age of 80, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Owen Chester and Mildred Dottie Newell; his sisters, Shirley A. Swift and Carol S. Norton; and his nephew Larry Sparkman.
He is survived by: his wife Janie Marie Cates; his grandchild Ed's; his former wife Janie M. Nickell; his daughter Lara B. Newell-Basford (James L. Basford); his nieces and nephews, Kimberly Sparkman, Kelly Swift, Kortney Swift and Brian Swift; his grandchildren, Katelyn M. Bunce, Andrew T. Bunce, II and Reese A. Basford; and also, Andrew T. Bunce, Sr. (Melissa Sweeney Bunce), Alana M. Sweeney and Logan T. Smith.
