She was predeceased by: her parents, Robert Akins and Evelyn Akins. She is survived by: her husband John Newton; her daughters, Kelli Newton Thompson (Sheldon) and Staci Newton; her granddaughter Lyric Morris; her siblings, Karen McDoulett (George), Sharron Freelen and James Akins; her pet Cowboy; and also, Robert and Evelyn Akins (Nicely). She is also survived by nieces and nephews.
