He was predeceased by: his parents, J. D. Shipman and Katie Shipman (Venable); and his siblings, Katie, Zeral, Calvin, Alvin, Blane and Lane.

He is survived by: his children, Randall Shipman (Kimmie), John Shipman, James Shipman, Carla Darlene Clark (Conrad), Vickie Macias (Robert) and Suprina Marshall (Ryan); and his brothers, Don Shipman (Rayanna) and James Shipman.
