He was predeceased by: his parents, Irvin Edward and Marion Claris Hurst (Knapp); his siblings, Carol Ann George and Randle Hurst; and his grandchildren, Rebecca Hurst and Justin Wilkerson.
He is survived by: his wife Catherine LaVern Bennett; his children, Steven Hurst (Martha), Diana Ansley (Bill) and Kathleen Garrett (Dallas); and his grandchildren, Andrea, Jeremiah, Christopher, Gabrielle, Billy, Blaine, Jonathan, Jeremy, Brandon, Ariel and Edward. He is also survived by 14 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
