Cooney Robert Jones Obituary

With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Cooney Robert Jones of Duncan, Oklahoma, born in Manchester, Kentucky, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on March 24, 2025 at the age of 78. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Chester Jones and Alberta Jones Bradley (Hubbard); and his siblings, Preston Jones, Eddie Jones, Luther Jones, Ruby Jones, Maggie Johnson and Ira Shelton.

He is survived by: his wife Gayle Strain; his daughter Angela; his son-in-law Eric Zellner of Seymour, Indiana; his grandson Marcus Fish (Jerica) of Crothersville, Indiana; his siblings, Alvin Bradley (Vicky) of Berea, Kentucky, Fern Hollin of Crothersville, Mary Howard of Hamilton, Ethel (Paul Barrett) of Berea and Lois (Willy Lear) of Berea, Kentucky; his sisters-in-law, Cheryl Strain and Brenda Jones; and his brothers, James Sizemore, Randy Moore, Barry Work, Paul Enlow, Lynn Medford and T. J. Ward. He is also survived by 6 great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.

Visitation was held on Thursday, March 27th 2025 from 5:30 PM to 7:00 PM at the Whitt Funeral Home (4748 US-81, Duncan, OK 73533). A funeral service was held on Friday, March 28th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the First Christian Church (916 W Walnut Ave, Duncan, OK 73533). A burial was held on Friday, March 28th 2025 at 3:30 PM at the Duncan Municipal Cemetery (1910 W Cypress Ave, Duncan, OK 73533).
