He was predeceased by: his parents, James Ephraim Ishmael and Bertha Ishmael (Rounsaville); his wife Danielle Yvonne Krack; his son John Wade Ishmael; his sister Lenora; his brother-in-law Clovis Hester; and his nieces, Marilyn Hester and Holly Hester.

He is survived by: his son Robert Alan Ishmael (Carli) of Missouri; his grandchildren, Mandy, Angela, Logan and Colin; his great grandchildren, Weston, Chloe, Wyatt, Addison and Paisley; and his nephews, Dale Hester and Mike Hester.
