He was predeceased by: his parents, James Barney Epple and Elena Fern Epple (Kniffen); and his siblings, Delores Lay, Juanita Hewitt, Andrews, James "Sonny" Epple, Cecillia Elliott, Charles Epple and Bonnie Spurgeon.

He is survived by: his wife Patricia Jane Frieden (Frieden) of Dewey, OK; his children, Anjie Marks (Jeffrey) of Tulsa, OK, Johnna Gambill (James) of Broken Arrow, OK, John Epple (Amber) of Dewey, OK and Steven Epple of Tishomingo, OK; his grandchildren, Dusty Catron (Adam) of Claremore, OK, Danielle Ferrin (Jamison) of Capenter, WY, Katie Alton (Travis) of O'Fallon, IL, Brad Gambill of Muskogee, OK, Elena Walker (Jackson) of St. Louis, MO, Lukas Crawford of Dewey, OK, Brody Crawford of Dewey, OK, Saylor Ford of Dewey, OK and Hannah Epple of Dewey, OK; and his great grandchildren, Ciara, Payten, Kiley, Jenson, Ally, Kiersten, Hollis and Lennyn.
