He was predeceased by: his parents, James Edward Stephens and Mary Stephens (Shifford); his wife Phyllis Stephens; and his siblings, Bernice Cartwright, Geneva Watkins and Don Stephens.
He is survived by: his children, Mary Durbin (John) of Dewar, James Edward Stephens III (Suzie) of Dewar, Orville Stephens of Okmulgee and Diana Norman (Butch) of Tiger Mountain; his grandchildren, Kyla Stephens (Eric), Nicholas Stephens, James Stephens IV (Mary), Chris Durbin (Jennifer), Michael Durbin, Joe Blake (Joanie), Valerie Mosco (Dustin), Amria Davis (Brett), Kara Stephens, Kloe Stephens, Karson Stephens, Kelly Baker and Mandi Nixon; and his sister Norma Jean Blood of Claremore. He is also survived by 27 great grandchildren, 5 great-great grandchildren.
