He was predeceased by: his wife Martha Jane Stewart; his parents, Ira L Stewart and Thelma M. Stewart; his daughter Susan Stewart; and his sister Fern Braunreuther.

He is survived by: his children, Cynthia Jones, Russell Stewart and Robert Stewart (Cynthia Stewart); and his grandchildren, Christopher Jones, Erin Griffith, Mackenzie and Brandon Stewart. He is also survived by four great-grandchildren, five great-great grandchildren.
