He was predeceased by: his parents, Snowden Gilbert and Lutabel Gilbert; his wife Dixie Ann Terry; his children, Sharon and Joseph; his siblings, Winston Gilbert and Susan Price; and his son-in-law John Levick.

He is survived by: his sisters, Peggy Townley (Charles) of Cyril and Roberta "Snowbel" Bishop of Cache; and his brother-in-law Richard Terry of Cyril, Oklahoma.. He is also survived by nine grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren.
