She was predeceased by: her parents, Theodore Tackett and Edith Hulsey Tackett; her children, Rick McDowell and Lisa McDowell Doyle; her siblings, James Tackett, Dortha Hewett and Mae Langston; her grandson Jeremy Whitely; and her great grandchild Heaven Lynn Dunn.

She is survived by: her husband Robert McDowell; her daughters, Robyn McDowell and Terri Griffin; her brother Harold Tackett; and her grandchildren, Holly Welch, Melanie Dunn, Shannon Mitchell, Erika Doyle, Lindsay Mitchell and Amber Floyd. She is also survived by 12 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren (2 on the way); several nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
