He was predeceased by: his father Robert McKinney; his sisters, Nancy and Donna; his granddaughter Alyssa; and his wife Lora McKinney.

He is survived by: his mother Carmen McKinney (Wilde); his brothers, Robert Jr. and EJ; his children, Richard Jr., Amos, Marlene and Lisa; his grandsons, Caleb, Matthew, Justin and John; and his great grandchild Baby Amos.
