He was predeceased by: his parent Leonard; his sister Ruth Steward; and his son Stanley Lyn Akins. He is survived by: his wife Shirley Akins (Gibby); his children, John Akins (Jan) of Ripley, Oklahoma and Laurea Sue Akins of Grand Prairie, Texas; and his grandchildren, Johnna Menard, Tiffany Akins and Jacob Akins. He is also survived by eight great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
