He was predeceased by: his parents, Virgil Matherly and Pauline Matherly; and his brother-in-law Jerry Geyer. He is survived by: his former wife Patricia Ann Saine; his wife Pat Matherly; his children, Angie Matherly Greer of Cushing, Brett Matherly (Jackie) of Ardmore, Brent Matherly (Carmen) of Bristow and Patti Matherly McBride of Cushing; his sisters, Carolyn Glimp (Earl) of Drumright and Helen Geyer of Drumright; his grandchildren, Josh Greer (Whitni), Brittani Baker (Kyle), Tanner Matherly (Rachel), Kaitline Coffey (Haden), Cameron Matherly, Hanna Beth Paul (Eli), Dane McBride and Chantz McBride; and his great grandchildren, Matherli Greer, Elli Beth Greer, Brady Baker, Hudson Greer and Blakely Matherly. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
