Vickey Von Howard Obituary
Howard, daughter of Floyd and Velma Hoefer was born in Buffalo, OK October 27, 1939 and departed this life on Saturday April 16, 2022 at her home in Crescent, OK, at the age of 82 years, 5 months and 20 days following several months of declining health.
Vickey was an active student and friend to many as a young lady growing up in Buffalo and graduated from Buffalo High School in 1957. Following graduation she attended nurses training in Tulsa until a car accident interrupted her goal. She returned home and attended Northwester State College until the summer of 1958 when she and Robert "Bobby" Howard were married on August 10, 1958.
Vickey enjoyed the next 4 years learning about life on the farm while Bobby attended Northwestern . During that time daughter Connie Kaye and son Scott Eugene were born. Vickey and family moved to Nashville, KS in 1962 as Bobby began his career in public education. Daughter Robin Lynn was born the spring of 1963 so began a busy family life as a loving, caring and doting wife and mother. Her pride and joy was her children and their families. Vickey and Bobby moved from Nashville to Kingman, KS and Manhattan, KS following Bobby's career moves and always supporting and caring for her children and their activities as well as working and volunteering at school and community events. In 1981 Vickeyand Bob moved to Lindsay, OK where she began a career of home decorating while also caring for her parents until their death. In 1992 they moved to Crescent, OK during which time she managed a Christmas Store in Quail Springs Mall and opened a home decorating business in Edmond until retiring in 2002. She continued her volunteer work at local civic events becoming a founding member of the creation of Frontier Country Museum and worked at the museum and enjoyed a fun time with a group of lady friends. Even in her time of failing health she was a very proud, loving and dignified lady. She took pride in all she did, always keeping akind, sweet smile.
She was preceded in death by her parents and daughter Connie Kaye. She leaves as her husband of 63 years Bobby of the home, her son Scott and wife Donna of Roseville, KS, daughter Robin Howard Lassiter of Edmond, OK, 10 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren, sister Janet Helmuth of Vicksburg, Mississippi, a large group of cousins, their families and special friends.
Memorial services will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday, April 24, 2022 at the First Presbyterian Church in Guthrie, OK. In lieu of flowers the family request memorials be made to Frontier Country Museum in Crescent or a charity of your choice.
