He was predeceased by: his siblings, Lesley Smith, David R. Smith, Tabitha Moore and Annis Marie Smith; the mother of his children Nancy W. Smith; his children, Johnny Smith, Stephen Smith and Julie Smith; his grandchildren, Kyle Williams and Rachael Rice; and his son-in-law Jim Lowry.
He is survived by: his wife Ann R. Smith; his children, Jennie Lawrence (Gregg) of Houston, Texas. and David W. Smith (Robin) of Collinsville, Texas.; his former wife Rebecca Bacschies (Ron) of Pottsboro, Texas.; his close friend Sadie; his grandchild Zach Randall of Houston, TX; and his sister Kathy Hill of Austin, TX.. He is also survived by 25 great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews. and cousins.
