He was predeceased by: his wife Pauline Rosalee Chaat; his parents, William Thomas Smith and Rachel Hale; and his siblings, Doyle, John, Dale and Jean Johansen.
He is survived by: his children, Diane Chaat Smith (Jake Strongbow), Paul Chaat Smith (Lynora Williams) and Martha Lynn Chaatsmith (Robert L. Jones); his grandson Robert Parker C. Jones; and his siblings, Barbara Thomas and Willard. He is also survived by many cousins, nephews, and friends.
In lieu of flowers, donations are encouraged to the Clodus & Pauline (Chaat) Smith Endowed Lectureship in American Indian Studies at Cameron University.
